European Citizens’ Consultations: More renewable energy
On September 28th, the Danish European Movement hosted a climate conference in the Danish Parliament with nearly 150 stakeholders and professionals participating. The conference was one of five regional debates organized to follow up the results of the European Citizens’ Consultations 2009 initiated by the King Baudouin Foundation from Belgium. The consultations showed that European citizens are concerned about climate changes and that a way to tackle the climate changes is to use of more renewable energy. (For more information, please go to http://www.european-citizens-consultations.eu/).
In the conference Anders Eldrup, CEO of Dong Energy, told that they have an ambitious goal: They want to change the Danish power systems,so that within twenty years 85 % of the Danish power comes from renewable energy and only 15 pct. comes from fossil energy, as opposed to today, where the numbers are reversed.
