UN Secretary-General welcomes G20 London Summit Outcome

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon is pleased over the fact that G20 leaders committed themselves to a .1 trillion package. But he emphasizes that it will be critical that the share of this going to the poorer countries is delivered.

The G20 leaders also reaffirmed previous commitments to increase aid and help countries achieve the Millennium Development Goals. This means delivering at least 0 billion in aid over the next two years. Especially for the poorest countries putting promises into practise will be crucial.

“The world will be watching”, Ban Ki-Moon stresses.

The Secretary-General was also encouraged by the fact that the G20 leaders recognized the inextricable links between addressing the economic crisis and addressing food security and climate change.
